Dating back to the 5th century they were comprised of segments of ornamentations and images. Unfortunately, they were stolen and melted down in 1802 and we rely on 17th century drawings to tell their story. I like a medium pillow that lets my head sink in a little bit so my neck isn't cranked at an angle but not to the point where it sinks in completely. You can also scrunch it a little bit. Also love that it's queen size, as most queen sheet sets for come with queen pillow cases, not standard. I am surprised it worked out, very happy with it.
